Every year since 1969, the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) has celebrated World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD). This year, we will celebrate WTISD on May 17th with the theme “Accelerating Digital Transformation in Challenging Times.” The day and theme reflect the ITU’s mission to facilitate global communications connectivity and, in particular, provide a timely focus on cooperation among ITU stakeholders to drive digital strategies which address global challenges like COVID-19.
In addition to WTISD, the ITU, in conjunction with its parent organization, the United Nations (UN), continues to fulfill the Connect 2030 Agenda. The ITU Connect 2030 Agenda supports the larger, long-term vision of the UN to achieve sustainable development. Specifically, the Connect 2030 Agenda seeks to achieve goals around Growth, Inclusiveness, Sustainability, Innovation, and Partnership within the global communications ecosystem.
At LATRO, we are “all in.” In fact, our corporate vision and long-term goals center on some of these same focus areas of not only the ITU and UN but also on communications development goals set forth by the GSMA Association and other industry organizations.
Our business is about empowering our telecommunications customers to prevent revenue leakage and stop fraud. We help them identify and implement controls that recover revenue, increasing top and bottom-line figures within their businesses. We do this by applying innovative solutions that are driven by the latest analytics technologies. We focus heavily on leveraging data sets from within the network enterprise toward insightful and predictive measures that prevent losses, improve quality of service, and enhance overall security for subscribers.
And while we celebrate the financial gains resulting from our successful analysis of bits and bytes, we are also motivated by a greater vision to connect the world and power global development. How does detecting and blocking a SIM Card used illegally in a GSM VOIP “SIM Box” Gateway, or executing real-time controls on Mobile Money transactions to prevent dealer fraud connect more people to the digital economy?
We believe that when we help our customers recover fraud losses and assure profitability in their businesses, we are powering more than just positive financial results. We are powering an industry to enable infrastructure investment. Profitability and revenue growth in the telecom sector drives investment and expansion. And expansion of the telecommunications infrastructure, particularly in the developing world, not only fuels job creation but also paves the way to connect the more than 3 billion people currently without access to internet services.
We believe we are helping to close the coverage gap, eliminate the connectivity divide, and connect the unconnected, bringing educational, developmental, and economic opportunities to those who can benefit from it the most.
Our team created this video to help communicate and share our vision. We hope you enjoy it, and we hope you will join us!
